Vienna turned out to be the real underdog of the trip so far 😁 mostly thanks to the 2 Isreali guys I met on my walking tour who let me tag along to their thoughtfully planned out day. I got there Tuesday evening but spend the night at home finishing training videos. So Wednesday was my only full day since the only decent flight to Split was scheduled for Thursday instead of Friday like I hoped. So I started my day at a cafe for breakfast then of course a walking tour. On the tour I bumped into Chloe, a girl I had just met in Budapest and met 2 new guys Amit and Ori. We made small talk on the tour and when I told them I had nothing else planned for the day, they invited me to join their lunch reservation at what is apparently a famous schnitzel restaurant. I did end up ordering chicken schitzel and enjoyed it. They were talking about how they were excited to see the "RAPID" football match that night becuase they are big football fans who go to games all over the world. They insisted I had to join after hearing I had never been to a match which actually worked out perfectly because I have been wanting to see a match in Europe but it isn't something I would do alone. So we met up again later in the day to visit the palace gardens where we tried the Austria delicacy Sachertorte (chocolate cake with apricot jam), then headed to the game. I had a fantastic time! The fans went full out with the chants and theatrics and the players were actually pretty fun to watch, also beer in the stadium was under $5 which is insane when compared to US stadium prices. The teams tied 1 -1 and we went out for pizza after.
