I booked Budapest and Vienna while in France and arrived Saturday 4/22 after a long day of travel. 4am bus from France to Switzerland, plane from Switzerland to Greece, then plane from Greece to Hungary. BUT it was Saturday night so I of course still had to hit the town and see some of the famous Budapest nightlife. I met up with some people from a Hostelword chat to grab dinner at some food trucks, then even more people in one of the popular ruin bars. There are bars spread throughout the city that are inside old ruins, this one had 2 levels and multiple rooms which each offered something different. One section would have a DJ, another a live band, another open mic, etc... Sunday I took a walking tour on the Pest side of Budapest, I unfortunately never saw the Buda side because when I showed up for my tour the next day it started pouring rain immediately so my friends and I opted to leave. Sunday night I met up with some friends again at a bridge for sunset then a casual night at the same bar. Day 3 was full of admin, lots of stress and research into visa's, volunteer positions, yacht week training videos, and meal planning for academy week. This was also the day it rained hence missing the Buda castle tour, but I joined 3 Aussie friends for dinner and a prosecco boat tour which turned out to be the highlight of the trip. It wasn't meant to be any type of party cruise but we shared a table with 2 Australian grannies and and a 21 year old couple from London and had the BEST time. We all stumbled out of there quite drunk off prosecco and convinced the older ladies to come to the bars with us 😂 they were a blast, one named Kathy was very impressed with my solo travel and gave me her number to offer a room in Australia if I ever need a place stay. I did like Budapest but afterwards regretted not spending my extra night in Vienna instead. Although, it still worked out great since I made some closer connections. Skye and Anton will be in Europe all summer traveling and Aiden, Emma, Sam, and Tabbi all live in London so I might visit them sometime soon.
